What is the purpose of ASUO?
The purpose of ASUO is to highlight and uplift the voices of students especially of those most marginalized. It is a space where students are able to address their concerns and enact change within the university.
Why are you running for office?
I am running for office because I want to be able to hold the administration accountable. The administration must remain transparent regarding the decisions they are making especially when it directly impacts the wellbeing of their students.
What relevant experience, qualifications, passions, and/or skills do you have?
Currently, I am a Policy Coordinator Intern at the Oregon Student Association where I interact with Oregon representatives, senators, lobbyists and community members trying to make education be more accessible for all students in Oregon. I am also the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education coordinator at the UO Women’s Center where I advocate for student survivors on and off campus.
What do you think it means to be a leader?
A leader is someone who collaborates with those around them in order to achieve the collective interest of all people. They are able to recognize how they are working with and for the people. They also maintain transparency with the community as they are working for the betterment of all the people around them.
If you are elected, how will you leverage your position to advance the needs of students?
If I am elected, I will leverage my position to advance the needs of students by maintaining a connection with the student community in order to understand the needs and concerns students have. I want to use my position to uphold the voices of the most marginalized of students in order to create a more equitable and affirming campus.
