Why are you running in the ASUO Election?

Hello, I am Anton Mandrosov, and I use he/him/his pronouns. I am a second year law student, with an undergraduate background in Political Science. Over the course of my time at the University of Oregon School of Law, I have primarily focused my studies on contracts, business law, and intellectual property. Regarding the latter, I am the current president of the University of Oregon’s Law of Intellectual Property student organization. In this capacity I have gained experience in hosting and organizing student events as well as working with the ASUO. Additionally, I have worked as part of the law school’s business law clinic, providing free legal services to local small businesses. As an undergrad, I pursued a degree in Political Science with a specialization in legal and societal development. My experience working with the ASUO and the business law clinic has given me a keen passion towards serving the needs and interests of our local community. I aim to contribute every effort possible to vigorously support and represent the interests of UO’s student body. Thank you for your consideration.

What are three key student-focused priorities that you would work on if elected?

1.I will work to ensure that student interests and goals are both represented and supported by the ASUO to the greatest capacity possible. Student agency, both in educational and personal matters, is what defines an active student body. I plan to help foster student initiatives and encourage collaboration between individuals, student clubs, and other interest groups. To accomplish this goal I aim to deepen lines of communication between ASUO leadership and the students the organization represents. Further, I aim to work closer with students in other leadership positions to build a network of mutual support for student initiatives across all issues and concerns. 2. Given their integral importance to campus life and student engagement, I intend to support ASUO student organizations across all aspects of their operations. I believe that this may be accomplished in a number of different ways such as: providing administrative and other support to clubs hosting events, promoting inter-club collaboration and resource pooling, and by working with ASUO leadership to enact policy changes in support of org operations both on and off campus. 3. I plan on working with the University of Oregon’s student body directly, through discussion forums, direct communication, and existing organizations to ensure student-identified issues and ideas are always seen by ASUO leadership. I believe that this will further integrate the voices of our fellow students into ASUO advocacy and decision making. This process will ensure that all students will be able to directly contribute their voices and their ideas towards meaningful positive change.
