Hello! My name is Autumn Oberhart (she/her/hers), and I’m a junior from Chicago, IL! I double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science, and double minor in Legal Studies and Environmental Humanities.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

As a senator, my first focus would be basic needs; devoting effort into advocating for textbook affordability and accessibility to low-cost meal plans are just a few of the areas I would want to explore to make UO more equitable. I’ve been part of an executive team for a student organization, and have seen firsthand the loss of knowledge post-covid. My goal would be to bridge that gap by offering comprehensive events, literature, and regular meetings between student leaders and ASUO representatives. Lastly, I would focus on campus sustainability. We can easily start by expanding post-consumer compost to the dining halls and funneling those scraps into adored programs like the Grove Garden and Urban Farm. This way we can intertwine environmental and student success.

Why are you running?

I’m running for Senate because I didn’t come to this school expecting to be in student government; yet, I’ve consistently seen issues within the university that have yet to be resolved. I will advocate for the Ducks who are struggling. Whether that’s affording groceries, keeping their organization afloat, or anything else brought to my attention. I’ll work on the Contract Finance Committee to ensure steps are taken to make UO attainable for students to flourish.
