Why are you running in the ASUO Election?
Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a first year PPPM (Planning, Public Policy, Management) Economics major with a minor in Legal Studies. I am from Eugene and have been deeply involved in many community organizations for several years. I am currently an active member of Young Democratic Socialists of America and LiveMove. I am running for this position with with UO Student Power because I want to improve our community both on and off campus. My main policy goals include: making UO admin more directly accountable to students, improving food access for students with food allergies, making it easier to start new student organizations, and working with LTD to improve bus service near campus.
Is there a particular ASUO funded service or organization (or multiple) that you are passionate about and hope to work with? Why?
The ASUO funded service that I use most frequently is the LTD bus pass that ASUO makes free for all students. The bus pass allows students to get around Eugene without needing to pay the exorbitant costs of owning, maintaining and storing a car on campus, while also being more environmentally friendly and space-efficient. I hope to work with LTD to further improve bus service to allow students to reach a wider range of destinations faster and more reliably.
