Why are you running in the ASUO Election?
My name is Carter Franks, my pronouns are he/him, and I am from Denver, Colorado. In my free time I like to spend my time outdoors either rock climbing or skiing. I want to become an ASUO Officer because I want to be able to represent my peers and fight for what is in their best interest.
One of Senate's responsibilities is to interact with student organizations every week during Senate Hearings and makes decisions on their spending requests. As one of the most front facing parts of ASUO, how do you plan on making these interactions as positive as possible for students?
I think that the main thing that I could do as an ASUO senator is to be as transparent as possible, because I think that all students are pretty reasonable when it comes down to it, along with the obvious one, which is respecting students. If students are able to know why decisions are being made, for better or for worse, it will most likely be a more positive experience for them.
Is there a particular ASUO funded service or organization (or multiple) that you are passionate about and hope to work with? Why?
Child care is one that comes to mind immediatly, as I think it is one of the most amazing services that ASUO is willing to provide to students. The fact that people can have a child, and we are able to enable them to get a degree is something that ASUO should absolutely not take for granted.
