Why are you running in the ASUO Elections?

My name is Ciaran Moses (he/him), I am from Eugene and I am a third year political science and French major running with UO Student Power. I worked with OSPIRG Students as the Grasstops coordinator for the Better Bag Ban campaign, seeking to tackle plastic pollution and help protect our environment here in Oregon. In this role I got to interact with leadership throughout our community, whether it be student leadership, small businesses ownership, or our elected officials. I represented the organization and fought for our communities here in Oregon and on campus when talking to these people. On the finance committee, I want to do just the same and fight for students here at the University of Oregon.

Is there a particular ASUO funded service or organization (or multiple) that you are passionate about and hope to work with? Why?

I am excited to be a part of ASUO which has been a part of so many amazing initiatives and funds so many great programs like the basic needs program which is essential for making sure every student has what they need to succeed. This is the sort of program I hope to support as a part of ASUO, and I will always try to advocate for students at the UO. Furthermore, I will always try to fight to keep our environment green here at the University of Oregon, by protecting programs like zero waste and ensuring that those working within such programs have an adequate wage which reflects their efforts.
