Why are you running in the ASUO Elections?

I’m running for ASUO Academic Seat 15 because I have work-study and in the field experience & want to help other undergraduate Psychology students to gain these experiences and be someone to give other students the platform I had!

As one of the most front facing parts of ASUO, how do you plan on making these interactions as positive as possible for students?

My name is Cole Stevenson (he/him), I’m a third year Psychology major & Philosophy minor who’s incredibly excited to be running for Academic Seat 15 (Psychology) with UO Student Power! I’m running for ASUO because I have work-study and in the field experience & want to help other undergraduate Psychology students to gain these experiences and be someone to give other students the platform I had! I aspire to give other students similar experiences and opportunities. It is incredibly difficult for Psych students to find their specific fit & I believe If I had the platform of Academic Seat 15, I can bridge that gap for a lot of students who feel underrepresented.

How are you connected to the academic programs you represent? How will you utilize these connections to best represent students?

I am currently the Vice President of The Philosophical Society, a club focused on discussions and presentations on philosophical topics; as well as an active member of Black Male Alliance at UO, a club focusing on bettering the experiences black men go through via conversation and team-building events. I also have worked at the Memory, Attention, & Individual Differences Lab for over a year now. Whether it be a work study opportunity or which clubs to join, I hope to represent Psych students to the best of my abilities! These experiences have helped me to build a rapport with professors and running for ASUO’s Psychology chair will give me an even better opportunity to represent Psych students! Regain YOUR power- vote for me and UO Student Power this spring!!
