Tell us about yourself.

My name is Fabian Gomez Hernandez. I am from Oregon City, Oregon, and I am currently a Junior studying Planning, Public Policy, and Management (PPPM) and Economics.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official? Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

Fair and free elections are crucial to representative governments such as our own. My goal as a senator would be to assure that all students' opinions are heard. Your vote is your voice. Communication with clubs should be prioritized. An election should not be decided by only a tenth of the voting population. Assuring that there are no questions about the legitimacy and representativeness of the election should be fixed with community outreach programs. Tackling the surplus and making sure it is distributed equitably with all clubs needs taken into consideration. Our jobs as finance senators should be to assure the growth of community and student life throughout campus. No club should ever be left behind, and growth should not be disrupted.

Why are you running?

Student clubs have been struggling to receive the funding they need when there is an immense surplus. These funds have been held back since 2020 for students. This money should go to the people that it was initially intended for. Without proper funding, clubs can struggle and sometimes shut down. It is important that students have opportunities outside of class that allow for socialization and networking. Bring the students the funding they need and deserve.
