Tell us about yourself.

My name is Ian Mohr (he/they) from Beaverton, Oregon, and I’m a junior at UO majoring in journalism. I work on campus at the rec center, and am an experienced campus organizer with UO Student Workers and the Young Democratic Socialists. I’m running to represent the SOJC on Senate seat 18.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

As a Senator, I will focus on supporting student workers by advocating for better pay, better working conditions, and improved access to basic needs. I will work to give students more of a say in how our school is run by making ASUO more accessible and transferring power from the administration back to the student body. It should be easier for student organizations to access the funds that are already in their budget. Also, I will work to improve our access to healthcare by reducing fees and bringing more health services to campus, including free STD testing.

Why are you running?

I’m running for Senate because the student government isn’t working for us. It’s time for change. Piece by piece, the administration has taken as much student control on our campus as they can away from us. I’m running to get it back. We all pay hundreds of dollars per term into ASUO and our money should go back to serving the student community. In the SOJC and beyond, we will make UO better for everyone.
