Why are you running in the ASUO Elections?

My name is Juniper Christopherson (she/her), and I've lived in Oregon for most of my life. Currently in my first year at the University of Oregon, I'm majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience. Within our university, students deserve accurate and justified representation of the student body's interests at University of Oregon. During my time with ASUO, I will strive and achieve transparency during constituent communication. As a member in multiple UO organizations (Women in Psychology, Asklepiads, Neuroscience Club, Hamilton Hall Council, and two workplaces), I understand the importance of club funding. It helps us expand our connections and gain experience. The events that ASUO funding supports have given thousands of students unique opportunities, and with my seat as an officer, that funding will continue.

Is there a particular ASUO funded service or organization (or multiple) that you are passionate about and hope to work with? Why? 

Over 200 student organizations and services' funding are overseen by ASUO. Students utilize these daily -- our free transit passes, the Basic Needs program, and campus concerts and speakers are all well known recipients of the funding. I want to appropriately distribute your student funds to reflect the interests in direct proportion to student life. Other factors may come into play, including diversity, creativity, and excellence. Our community values these ideas, and therefore, reflecting those values in my communication and decision-making is imperative.
