Tell us about yourself.

Hi my name is Keziah Denny! My pronouns are she/her. I live in Salem, Oregon but I am originally from Chuko Ethiopia. I am currently a third year student. My major at UO is Political Science with a minor in Global Service; I am hoping to get my Peace Corps certification through my minor.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

My three key issues surround accessibility for disabled students, improved communication with students regarding campus resources. The last key issue regards raising more awareness on sexual assault. There are still dorms that don’t have elevators, there are lecture halls that also don’t have elevators. Not only that, but there is a large lack of ramp ways for students with disabilities. The counseling program and how it works isn’t talked about or explained enough. Opportunities and information about and getting into an ARC is little to none. Lastly, while there is sexual assault education for first years, isn’t continued any further after that. There isn’t a big enough response from our administration, this is in part why many victims aren’t comfortable to come forward.

Why are you running?

I’m running because I am proud to be a UO student and I believe this is a university that has great resources and opportunities for students to excel and thrive. Having experience as a RA I got to know more of the administrative side of the university; I hope to contribute to making the university safer, more inclusive, and structured to benefit all students. In ASUO,I hope to bring transparency, dedication, and positive development.
