Tell us about yourself.

My name is Marisol Peters (she/they) and I am from Austin Texas. I am apart of the Karuk Tribe. I am a second year studying architecture with a minor in Native American and Indigenous Studies.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

As an elected official I will ensure the budget process is equitable for students of color, as it currently does not support cultural orgs. Additionally I will introduce and approve legislation that platforms students of color. I want to support all students, specifically students with financial need who rely on programs like basic needs, a program which needs to be reformed and in office I will support and uplift programs like that.

Why are you running?

As a leader within the indigenous and queer community on this campus I have felt unsupported by ASUO. I want to make sure my communities as well as intersectional identities have a place in our student government.
