Why are you running in the ASUO Election?

My name is Noel Mayer my pronouns are she/her. I am from Albany, Oregon, and I am studying political science and legal studies at the university. I am running for the purpose of bettering the University and finding new ways to make life for students easier.

One of Senate's responsibilities is to interact with student organizations every week during Senate Hearings and makes decisions on their spending requests. As one of the most front facing parts of ASUO, how do you plan on making these interactions as positive as possible for students?

For me, being as kind and understanding as possible is always a number one way to ensure positive and helpful interactions. I never wish to be so intimidating that students don’t feel comfortable speaking to me, so my plan is to remain level headed and open as well as respectful so that every interaction is personalized and positive.

Academic Senators represent students within their major, department, or school. How are you connected to the academic programs you represent? How are you connected to the academic programs you represent? How will you utilize these connections to best represent students?

My connections to the academic programs come from the students and professors who I have interacted with. I plan to use these to help represent students by using my own personal experiences to better understand and also to get a feel for both the professor and student relationship.
