Tell us about yourself.
My name is Ravi Cullop, and I use he/him pronouns. I am a Junior from Portland, Oregon. I am currently finishing my B.A. in Planning, Public Policy and Management, and I am very grateful and excited to be attending UO Law in the Fall!
What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.
I will continue the work I’ve already done on the Campus Planning Committee to update the East Campus plan to include a food pantry and building for student services such as the Student Advocacy Program and Basic Needs, as well as protecting important green spaces like the grove garden. I will maximize the collaboration between the Executive and Legislative branches of ASUO by creating joint committees on issues such as transportation and labor, so that Senators and Cabinet members can more easily collaborate on shared projects and work more efficiently. I will increase students’ capabilities at UO, by expanding student representation on UO boards and committees, as well as making students aware of their abilities to grievance faculty or file academic petitions.
Why are you running?
As an intern in the Executive branch, I was able to collect student testimonies on a harmful UO attendance policy and work towards a resolution. As a Senator, I’ve worked with the Executive branch on amending our inclement weather policy, creating a reforms package for ASUO elections, and improving the new policy for students to grievance faculty. I will always continue to collaborate within ASUO and the UO community to improve the lives of students.
