Hi there! My name is Sayuri Payne (she/her), and it’s great to meet you! I am a Junior studying Business Administration, focusing on Finance, Accounting, and OBA. I’m originally from San Jose, California, however, I moved to Tokyo, Japan in 2009. After some incredible experiences there, I returned to Beaverton, Oregon in 2015… It’s been quite the adventure with all the moving around :)

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus and hope to improve for students as an elected official? Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

1) Allocation of Budget to Student Organization: Revise club funding guidelines for fairness by implementing differentiated policies tailored to various club types. Improve transparency in allocation decisions and collect regular feedback from student organizations to better address their needs. 2) Enhance ASUO Communication: There must be improvements on communication between ASUO and the student body/clubs. For example: election process, budget hearing requirements/deadlines, events, i-fee utilization. What is the process to run for ASUO? How could student orgs efficiently prepare for budget hearings? What are the explicit dates to fill what forms by? 3) Improving I-fee expenses: Review and streamline the allocation of I-fee fundings to maximize and prioritize student needs. Afterall, I-fee rates are increasing every year, causing tuition to rise.

Why are you running?

After a year in ASUO, my involvement with PFC has been incredibly rewarding. Having engaged with various student organizations, I’ve developed a deep understanding of their needs and challenges. With my background in finance and passion for policy improvement, I’m committed to making meaningful changes that benefit us all.
