Hola! My name is Sebastian Flores, and I use he/him pronouns. Born in Pasadena, California, but I've called Beaverton, Oregon, home since I was a couple of months old. I am a sophomore pursuing a double major in Advertising and Business Administration. I come from a background shaped by the immigrant experiences of my parents, who migrated from Mexico at young ages.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.

Lack of Representation of Cultural Student Organizations:, I will work to ensure that cultural student organizations receive adequate support and recognition on campus. This includes providing funding, resources, and spaces for these organizations to thrive, as well as promoting their events and initiatives to the broader student body. Lack of Connection between ASUO and Students: I aim to bridge the gap between the ASUO and the student body by implementing transparent communication and increasing student engagement in decision-making processes. Financial Equity for all Students, Including Equitable Budgeting and Stipends: I am committed to addressing the disparities in funding and stipend allocation within our student organizations. As our current budget model does inadvertently favor certain groups over others, leading to inequities in resources and opportunities.

Why are you running?

I am running for office because I believe it's crucial for students, especially those from similar backgrounds as mine as a Latino, to have representation and someone they can connect with. Growing up in an immigrant family, I've faced unique challenges and experiences that have shaped my perspective and values. I want to be that voice for students who may feel marginalized or underrepresented, ensuring their concerns are heard and their needs are addressed.
