My name is Victoria Piñeiro I use she/her/hers pronouns! I am currently in my 3rd year at the University of Oregon, studying Political Science and Philosophy. My hometown is Las Vegas, Nevada but I absolutely love living in Oregon and also consider it home!
What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official? Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.
As an elected official, I want to improve food insecurity on campus. This is an issue that touches many students on campus and needs to be addressed. Additionally, basic needs is one resource that needs to get more attention and funding on campus. Working at the Student Sustainability Center, I have learned various ways in which the U of O could change their practices to create a more sustainable campus and reduce our waste. I would want to implement campus-wide composting practices, and educate students about the composting process and how they can implement these practices in their own homes. Lastly, as a student of color, I want to ensure that voices are still represented and heard despite not being at the decision making table.
Why are you running?
I am running for Senate Seat 09 because I want to continue making changes for our campus that will make the student experience at UO better. There are always ways we can work to implement ideas and resources that can help ducks be successful!
