Tell us about yourself.
I use she/her pronouns. I am a first-year student from Salem, Oregon. I major in political science and minor in legal studies.
What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official? Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.
Some of the issues I have noticed at this University are the considerable financial barrier to higher education, the administration's lack of respect for its workers, and a lack of reproductive healthcare. As a senator, I will fight for working-class students to access higher education by advocating for cheaper tuition and, ideally, universal college, something commonplace in many other countries. As a unionized barista, I stand with our campus labor unions, UOSW, GTFF, UA, and SEIU, in their efforts to get a fair share for their workers. As a member of YDSA, I have fought for the UHS to add medicated abortion as one of its many services, something that YDSA at multiple other universities has already won.
Why are you running?
I'm running to fight for a university that serves the people instead of serving its shareholders' wallets. As a working-class Asian American, I'm running to fight for a more diverse student government in race and economics. I'm running to fight for a university that accounts for the needs of all of its students, no matter their disability, gender, class, or race. I'm running to fight for a university that supports and uplifts its student organizations.
