Hey, my name’s Huntyr Doeling (He/Him), and I’m a sophomore studying Accounting with a minor in PPPM. I’m from Beaverton, Oregon, and love snowboarding, running, and watching movies!
What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it.
1. ASUO’s Transparency – There’s a lack of communication/transparency between students and ASUO. For me, there’s nothing more annoying than not knowing what’s going on or feeling like you’re on the outs. I plan to reshape this so students are constantly updated and feel like they have an actual voice rather than feeling like decisions are being made without/for them. 2. Academic Experience – You pay for your education, so you should have a say in the quality of your education. Ensuring professor and admin accountability is something I want to make happen! 3. Collaboration – Systemic issues, like housing, remain unresolved due to a lack of program unity. I want to make actual progress by combining resources & ideas!
Why are you running?
Being an intern for ASUO this past winter, and working on the systematic housing issue, I’ve realized there’s a lot of internal systematic issues that need changing–both in ASUO & the Lundquist College of Business. I’m running for office to continue being a part of the conversation in reshaping both and to ensure students are actually being heard and that their ideas are being used!
