Tell us about yourself.

My name is Mattie Melson (she/her/hers) and I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm currently a junior double-majoring in Journalism and Art + Technology.

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it. 

1. A lack of equitable and accessible opportunities for certain student populations at UO. I'd like to interview different students and see what they think and want before finding an appropriate action, but emergency and accessibility training for student organizations is necessary first and foremost. 2. Lack of organization and safety precautions at some campus-led events. I want to find a way to set consistent safety standards for every event on campus. 3. Student workers need to be paid more and have ample safety training! I'd work directly alongside UOSW to see how we can help one another.

Why are you running?

My voice is needed in ASUO! The opportunity to be a Senate Seat is beyond exciting and I'd like to see if others are invested in the same issues that I am.
