Tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone! My name is Cash Kowalski (He/They), and I am from The Woodlands, Texas just outside of Houston. I am a second-year student with junior standing here at the University of Oregon studying General Social Science: Crime, Law & Society with a Certificate of Secondary Education. I am currently in the ASUO executive branch as Secretary of Engagement, a role where I primarily focus on putting on the fall and spring street faire!

What are the three key issues that you've noticed on campus that you hope to improve for students as an elected official?
Please list each issue and briefly explain how you hope to improve it. 

Addressing the basic needs crisis on campus is a fundamental priority for me because students cannot be expected to succeed until their basic needs are met. Additionally, as a future educator and student with learning disabilities, I'm committed to ensuring learning is accessible for all students, increasing instructor accountability, and working to improve class registration by providing syllabus transparency. Finally, I am passionate about supporting student leaders across campus by making the ASUO budget process more transparent and easy to navigate. While this list isn't exhaustive, during my time in office, I'll ensure every student's voice is heard and represented in our student government. Together, we'll work towards a more inclusive and supportive campus environment and a better ASUO.

Why are you running?

When I arrived at UO I felt completely alone. It was through my involvement in my First-Year Interest Group, Aspiring Educators Club, and LGBTQA3 Center that helped me find both my community and myself. This year in ASUO I have been able to support hundreds of students in finding their home on campus. As your next ASUO President, I am committed to tirelessly advocating for every student's needs and well-being. You are NOT alone.
