Why are you running in the ASUO Elections?

Hi! My name is Ling Pu (she/her), and I am from a small college town in Davis California. I’m currently a sophomore, studying towards a BFA in product design and minoring in landscape architecture. I am very involved on campus, as I am a part of many different intramural sports teams, IDSA, and currently working as an assistant director for the Student Alumni Association leadership team. Being part of the leadership team for the student alumni association, I have found value in being involved with other student leaders, advocating for resources that foster community, student growth, and personal development. In regards to ASUO, I hope to be proactive towards maintaining strong relationships with student organizations and by creating a sense of belonging through campus collaboration. My main goal for UO is to continue my student leadership in hopes of helping foster a strong student community by reaching all corners of campus and making high achieving and well informed decisions. I strive to deepen student involvement and confidence in their institutional support system with ASUO in order to create a safer environment for hidden voices to emerge.

Is there a particular ASUO funded service or organization (or multiple) that you are passionate about and hope to work with? Why?

I hope to work with APASU, VSA, and IDSA. I am very passionate about creating inclusivity and unity within Asian and other minority communities, as I know how important it is to create a sense of solidified belonging on such a large campus. I have had many positive experiences through these clubs, and I strive to improve their work so they may continue to make differences in and around campus. IDSA is another club I would like to work with due to my interests and incentives in the design world. As a product design major and a student at the College of Design, it is important to me to give back and contribute to my community. I hope to provide the necessary resources to these design clubs so that they can continue to encourage UO’s future designers and innovators.
